Hi I’m Helen, floral designer at ‘Flowers at The Old School House’ located in the picturesque Rutland countryside, a stone’s throw away from Launde Abbey.

After spending many years renovating our old school house and caring for my beloved Mum and Dad in the last years of their lives, I was left with a huge gap in my own life.

And then my older daughter Gracie said to me “Why don’t you look into a floral design course of some kind?” No sooner had she suggested it, she had researched courses and even enrolled me at The Covent Garden Flower Academy in London.

 

Six years on, here I am feeling so grateful for her help and determination to get me up and running again.

I run workshops throughout the year and absolutely love designing beautiful vase arrangements for parties, birthday celebrations and special family gatherings. I also supply weekly flowers for shops, pubs and restaurants.

My floral style is natural, loose and light, with attention to shape, texture and fragrance. I use British seasonal flowers where possible, scented herbs and flowering foliage, some of which I grow myself. I choose flowers that I personally like and hope you share my love.

I enjoy teaching people how to cultivate their creativity. Whatever level of experience and confidence you have, I believe with a little help you can create something beautiful and unique to you.
